Some valuable tips are included, here are some examples:
- Make sure you consider case sensitivity in URLs (Linux based OS are case sensitive, so you could accidentally make links to invalid pages)
- Use page title tags that accurately summarize the subject matter of the page content
- Use the meta-description tag to summarize what the page is about
- Create a site map, one HTML version for visitors, one XML version for search engines
- Use "breadcrumb" navigation
- Have a useful 404 page. Google provides a widget you can use
- Use the free Google web master tools
